Local school leaders from across Surrey Heath have issued a joint statement regarding the proposed location of the new Frimley Park Hospital at the Frimley Fuel Allotments site. While fully supporting the urgent need for a replacement hospital and investment in modern healthcare infrastructure, the signatories have expressed continued opposition to the proposed site due to unresolved concerns about child safety, school access, transport infrastructure, safeguarding and wider community impacts.

The statement highlights concerns about the safety of more than 13,000 pupils attending over 36 local schools, increased congestion on routes used by children travelling to and from school, the impact of a lengthy construction period, and whether local infrastructure can accommodate a major regional hospital. School leaders also question whether consultation and traffic survey evidence can meaningfully influence the final decision and whether alternative sites have been properly evaluated.

The signatories are calling for a transparent, evidence-led process, independently verified assurances on child safety and infrastructure capacity, and greater confidence that community concerns will be fully considered before any final decision is taken. They state that while they support the delivery of a new hospital, they will continue to oppose the proposed location until these issues have been satisfactorily addressed.
