Letter to the Health Secretary: Urgent Meeting Requested on Frimley Park Hospital

Surrey Heath MP urges Government to improve transparency and cooperation

Please see the full letter below.

There are urgent concerns about the proposed location for the rebuild of Frimley Park Hospital. While there is full support for replacing the current site due to RAAC, the preferred location appears to have been advanced without proper transparency, scrutiny, or meaningful engagement. Previous ministerial engagement has been lacking, and key questions remain unanswered.

The proposed site risks significant impacts on congestion, transport access, infrastructure, and the environment, all of which are fundamental to the project’s success. There are also serious doubts about whether the full costs—particularly for transport and infrastructure—have been properly accounted for, raising concerns about value for money and the robustness of the financial case.

There is broad agreement on the need to rebuild quickly, but not at the expense of due process, proper planning, or public confidence. A more transparent, evidence-based approach is essential.

Key requests:

  • Urgent meeting with the Secretary of State to discuss the proposed site
  • Full financial transparency, including transport, infrastructure, and contingency costs
  • Independent and transparent review of the site selection process
  • Clear plan for supporting infrastructure upgrades and environmental safeguards
  • Meaningful consultation with MPs, local authorities, and residents before any final decision is made
