Letter to the Prime Minister: PMQ Response Follow-up

Following the Prime Minister’s response at PMQs on 1 July 2026, Dr Al Pinkerton MP has written to renew his serious concerns about the proposed relocation of Frimley Park Hospital to the Frimley Fuel Allotments.

There is unanimous support across Surrey Heath for rebuilding the existing hospital, which is riddled with RAAC. However, serious questions remain about whether the proposed site is accessible, environmentally responsible and supported by adequate infrastructure.

The proposal would place one of the region’s busiest hospitals alongside 6 schools attended by more than 3,300 pupils. Ambulances, emergency vehicles, patients, staff and school traffic would compete for access through an already constrained residential road network.

Further concerns include the absence of credible and funded transport plans, the loss of part of the historic Frimley Common, the effect on communities moved further from care and whether the full infrastructure requirements have been properly costed.

Questions have also been raised about the integrity of the site selection process. Several owners of alternative sites have reportedly said that they were not contacted during the assessment and only heard from Frimley Health shortly before the preferred site was announced. Evidence also suggests that the Frimley Fuel Allotments was being discussed publicly by political figures before the formal process concluded.

The letter makes clear that these substantive concerns deserved answers from the Prime Minister, rather than political point-scoring. A project worth almost £2 billion must be evidence-based, financially robust and capable of commanding public confidence.

Key requests:

• Pause the current process while these concerns are properly examined.
• Commission an independent review of the site selection process and its health, financial, transport and environmental consequences.
• Publish the evidence, scoring methodology and financial assessments underpinning the preferred-site decision.
• Publish the proposal’s full infrastructure costs.
• Arrange a meeting between the Prime Minister, Health Secretary and Al Pinkerton.
